Who We Are

The Plano Youth Recreation Committee (PYRC) consists of 12 youth in grades 6-10 who want to work with peers to provide input on programming, policy and recreation opportunities for youth throughout Plano Recreation Centers.

What We Do

Be a young person of impact!

PYRC members bring a valuable youth perspective to staff decision-making at their local recreation center through attendance at monthly meetings and projects. They are builders of community, champions of Plano Parks and Recreation and the voice for all recreation center youth.

Eligibility

All applicants must: 

  • Be in grades 6-10
  • Open to Plano residents or PISD students
  • Priority given to individuals with a Plano Recreation Center membership
  • Enjoy recreation & teamwork
  • Receive parent permission to participate

Selection

Youth are selected based on eligibility requirements and authenticity of application answers. 

Applications

Applications are accepted annually between August 1-31. The application window for the 2025-2026 school year is currently closed.
