Who We Are
Combining Plano’s vibrant business community with a nationally-recognized school district, the Plano Mayor’s Summer Internship Program is a paid summer internship program for rising juniors and seniors attending a Plano public school or residing in Plano.
What We Do
Volunteers ages 21+ serve during several events a year for the Plano Mayor's Summer Internship Program. Volunteer cannot be related to an intern applicant and must complete a waiver and background check (free).
Applications for interns will open in 2026 and are not featured in the Volunteer Portal. Information for students can be found at https://planomayorsinterns.org/
Dollars for Doers (Employer Matching):
Volunteers, if your employer provides funding for volunteer service or matches employee donations, please consider directing that support to the Plano Improvement Corporation (the nonprofit umbrella organization for PMSIP) and indicate PMSIP in the notes.
Many companies use platforms such as Benevity to verify and process contributions - check with your HR department for details. Every contribution helps us grow the mission and expand opportunities for students!
Volunteer Impact:
In 2025, the time, talent, and commitment of volunteers helped steward more than 300 students through
Intern Prep Day and ultimately led to 87 interns securing paid summer
internships.
Together, 89+ volunteers contributed over 570 hours of service. Their dedication made a tremendous impact on both our program and the students we serve, and we are deeply grateful!
