We're excited to announce the dates of the next CERT Basic Training. This training will be a fast-track course completed in a single weekend. 

In order to join Plano CERT, you must: Live or work within the City of PlanoBe at least 18 years of ageBe able to perform light physical activity - some lifting involvedComplete a background checkBe available for ALL THREE dates of trainingSchedule: Friday, April 17th, 6 - 9 PMSaturday, April 18th, 8 AM - 6 PMSunday, April 19th, 8 AM - 5 PMOn Saturday and Sunday, there will be a one-hour break for lunch. Attendees can bring their own or plan to go off-site to eat. We have a refrigerator, microwave, and toaster in our break room for your use.Topics covered: Disaster PreparednessCERT OperationsMedical OperationsDisaster PsychologyFire Safety & Utility ControlsLight Search and Rescue Terrorism & CERT Activities include:  Tourniquets, bandaging, splintingCPR, head to toe assessment, triageFire extinguisher training, gas/water shutoffLifting and cribbing

Attendance to all 3 days of Basic Training is required to complete this training. Missing any portion of the training may result in noncompletion of the course.  Please make sure to sign up to all 3 shifts listed in this opportunity to register for this event.

Location: Plano Emergency Operations Center (EOC), 4125 W. Parker Rd. [MAP]

After registration:

Immediately after signup, you may receive a system-generated email with generic confirmation details. However, Volunteers in Plano (VIP) staff monitor signups to ensure eligibility and completion of all onboarding steps. Within 3 business day of signup, you will receive a personalized follow-up from VIP. Please be on the lookout for one of the following emails: 

"CERT Background Check Needed" - This email will be sent to individuals without a recent background check on file. It will have instructions about completing the check. The check is performed at no cost to you. "CERT Signup Confirmation" - If you already have a background check on file, VIP will send a confirmation that your registration is confirmed. Questions?
