Who We Are
Plano Emergency Management is responsible for planning, coordination and preparation of available resources during hazards, including storms, natural disasters, technological or man-made catastrophes, and other emergencies.
What We Do
Emergency Management runs the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, which is a nationally supported, locally implemented program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area.
Volunteers are trained in basic disaster response skills such as:
- Fire safety
- Light search and rescue
- Team organization
- Disaster medical operations and more!
Upon completion of the basic training program, volunteers participate in a full-scale disaster scenario that allows them to put what they’ve learned in training into practice.
After volunteers complete Basic Training, they become CERT Alumni and are invited to attend regular meetings to continue their disaster response education, connect with other Alumni, and volunteer in the community.
To get started, please create an "I'm an adult 18+" profile and come back to this page to add your name to the CERT Basic Training interest list opportunity below.
